Lutherie Clain | Electric double bass

Clain Electric Double Bass
A 5-strings electric double bass on its stand.
The musician, owner of this instrument chose to tune it: C, G, D, A, E
You can choose another agreement. You can also choose a 4-strings electric double bass, made from the same concept:
- A conventional length of vibrating strings of about 104.5cm
- A traditional double bass maple neck
- An ebene touch
- A double bass bridge equipped with an electret-type sensor
- The bridge is placed on a flexible table in multiplis.
- The strings cling to a metal rope moored in the rear batten that connects the table and the bottom
- The adjustable spade is implanted in the batten through the rope.
- The table and the bottom are solidly assembled on one side by the rear batten cup and on the other side by the batten of the handle.
- Neck, table and background form an inseparable ensemble allowing the musician to find the sensations of play that he has always had on a traditional acoustic double bass.
- In what is called the expression, the sensations of playing on acoustic instruments have a very great importance. The peg and its volute too, creating an unbalance at the end of the handle and favoring the low frequencies that always remain difficult to restore with tests of electric instruments where the length has been reduced for the sake of clutter.
- The ankler is a beautiful standard above the musicians who play on stage.
Music is a scholarly expression. By resonating deep within us, it suggests images that touch us.
Some persons see it as a crossbow.
I see the double bass as a religious mantis, placed on a grass, it stands.

On this instrument I endeavored to restore the same feelings of play as on the acoustic double bass:Have

The vibratory reactions exploiting the elasticity of the different structural elements in the double bass is typical of the instruments of the quartet. This gives them dynamics and expression. All this moving system restores the sensations of the acoustic instrument. The infinitely sensitive vibrations in the hands of the musician reveal the expressive qualities of the acoustic double bass:

- Attack of the sound during the vibration of the strings,

- rebound of the note played, when the string is released,

- sound length or note damping

- and harmonic richness according to the weights, thicknesses and elasticity of each of the different elements of the structure of this electric double bass.
